2 years later and I am still using this book! - By: , 19 Nov 2004
I first wrote a review of this book in 2002 ........... I am still using this book which I reallly think serves as a testament to it! There are far too many recipes to describe here & now it seems to be limited I would not give this book up even under duress! Fantastic recipe book worth the money & if you are into food from the middle east & regions surrounding, then this is the one for you!
My newest cooking bible!! - By: , 03 Nov 2002
A fantastic book, I haven't put it down since I bought it! Ghillie's recipes are innovative, creative, inpiring & very original. Not just about food either, she writes a wonderful history of the region & the photographs (some by her husband) are beautiful. The recipes are listed by ingredient; from carob to orchid root!! Each with a brief history of their usage in the Middle East. Anatolian Lamb Kebabs are just so perfect you will never buy take out again & Rose Petal Jam (heaven in a pot) is definitely one for the connoiseur! Ghillie's book is similar to Crazy Water, Pickled Lemons & if you enjoyed that then you would love this book as well.
