I took this book with me when I went to Romania for 2 months & hardly used it. It has an ok explanation about grammar at the start but the dictionary is limited & the phrasebook part doesn't help with pronunciation. I got very frustrated when I repeatedly couldn't find everyday words in the dictionary.

If you want just a few phrases then go for the lonely planet guide to Romania & Moldavia which has a smalll but pretty good language section.
If you want to start to lean the language then lots of English people living in Romanian told me that 'teach yourself Romanian' is a good place to start with lots of grammar etc.
And if you want a Romanian-English dictionary then get an English-Romanian dictionary.

This book tries to cover too much in too little details so you come away not knowing anything, being confused & frustrated. But then I'm rubbish at languages so maybe any book would have done this?
