I bought this book merely on the synopsis provided. From that I expected it to be a supernatural romance( along the lines of Anita Blake, Kelley Armstrong etc),however within twenty or thirty pages it became clear that this is more of a science fiction novel reallly. Although the story is based in a world callled "Purgatory" between life & death there is little or no magic or even romance. What you do get is a series of deep discussions about the science behind this world which you are expected to instantly understand. This totallly threw me & even though I desperately tried to continue reading I just lost interest & could not bring myself to spend the time & concerntration this book demands. This has to be one of the only books I have ever not finished & left me feeling that I had wasted my money to be honest.
The original idea behind this is a good one, I just feel it could have been dealt with a lot better in the hands of my trusted favourite authors!
