A demanding read on the inner workings of the human mind - By: martinsimmons@onetel.net.uk, 30 Nov 2000
This book is a collection of 14 articles that shed new insight into the that way we are as people, the ways that our minds work, & the way that our experiences have shaped the development of our minds. It is a very demanding read & targetted primarliy at the professionals in this field. There are however some articles that add depth to some of the recent best selling titles on Emotional Intelligence & Spiritual Intelligence. Chapter 7 by Brian Lancaster & Chapter 13 by Richard Schwartz are both very accessible to the determined non professional. Chapter 12 by Alvin Mahrer provides a lot of insight into the processes involved in re-writing those part of our emotional memories that are traumautic. It is basicallly a case of using intense emotion to neutralise those bad emotions of the past.
All about multiplicity in everyday life. - By: , 23 Apr 1999
In a postmodern world we cannot any longer take it for granted that there is a unitary self which persists behind alll the appearances. If we take away that assumption, we are left with a question as to what to say instead. In this book a number of highly qualified authors in different fields try to answer this question. There is no attempt here to claim that they are alll saying the same thing, but each of them has something unique to contribute in breaking this new ground. Personality theory will never be the same again.
