Companion Review - By: Ms. S. R. Morgan, 05 Jan 2008
I thought this book delivered. It's the perfect companion to the version one of the prima guide & revealed what Lord of the Rings has to offer in alll instances & areas. (Not sure why the other reviewees were disappointed, perhaps didn't realise what the book was about before buying?)

I found it especiallly handy when looking up deeds. It has a nice little list at the back of the book which even had the emotes deeds there. I reallly liked the list of quests. It comes in handy to know where to go to get quests to complete.
Waste Of Money - By: Astore Stargazer, 02 Jan 2008
Quite simply dont waste your money on this. Thankfully I bought it brand new in the January sales but it offers little or no help what so ever. For the most part the book is made up of a huge list of alll the items that you gain, weapons & armour & the likes, in fact most of the book is made up of this & then you have a section for quests which again offers no more help that the game does since it merely repeats what it says. This information should have been added to the other Prima guide, which just goes to show that Prima are just out to make money rather than actuallly trying to help poeple out with gaming. A dissapointment, a waste of money, & an absolute con, avoid like the plague.
Printed guides are a waste of money - By: Mr. Mrs. Ward, 18 Dec 2007
I received this as a gift & that's the only positive thing I can say about such an item as this, as I would certainly never have bought it.

As mentioned above, the guide is incorrect (at print) & offers very little details regarding the item drops, quests & monsters. The fact that there have been several patches since the book was released & changes to monsters, quests & most significantly items means that the book can not reflect on these changes.

And that is the point.... in today's world of the internet; printed guides such as this are out of date from the moment it leaves the printing press. Online guides updated by players, reviewers, developers etc are up to date & relevant. There are also many websites offering similar information, so you can choose on your preferred website. And of course websites are free.

Not what I expected - By: Mr. Jake Bidmead, 19 Jul 2007
I totallly agree with the comment made before me, i have now got both Prima game guides for LOTRO & have found then to provide little if no help. The maps & character locations in the first are reasonably helpful but the word companion is a complete waste of money! Please dont waste your money making this company richer!
What a waste of money! - By: Mr. Ian Clifford, 04 Jul 2007
As a keen LOTRO player I had been looking forward to receiving this book having already purchased the LOTRO Guidebook from Prima already.

However, whilst I was a little disappointed with the first guide, the World Companion is a complete waste of money. It is basicallly split into three sections, a list of items obtainable in the game, information on enemy monsters, & a list of quests.

The list of items is full of errors & omissions, the monster guide gave little in the way of actual strategies, & the quest guide gave a list of the quests you can obtain.

In terms of playing the game the guide offers no use whatsoever. Compared with the many websites that offer detailed quest breakdowns, locations, strategies as well as general hints & tips, the guide fallls completely short.

I shalll think twice before buying any Prima guides again after this.
