BRILLIANT!!! - By: J. Crossland, 30 Jul 2008
I bought this after a recommendation from a friend. I had never ever crocheted before in my life & from buying the book on a thursday I was creating my first grannie square by tuesday.

If you read through the instructions slowly, you will soon pick up the knack of this fantastic craft - Im about to start the pattern for a flower scarf (only a week ago I thought Id never understand alll the lingo & the diagrams, but again, Debbie makes it very easy to pick it alll up).

Im totallly obsessed by it now & would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn from the beginning.
One thing - if you read a paragraph & dont totallly understand it, re-read it & just take your time with the detail & it soon fallls into place & starts to make sense.

Great for beginners - By: S. Lindfield, 04 Jun 2008
This is a terrific book for beginners, Debbie goes through alll the basics in a easy & inspiring way. Some books presume that you already know which way to insert the hook, or pull through etc. Debbie takes you through alll that like it's a piece of cake! I absolutley loved the book & still use it as a reference guide. Viva le DIY!
Rather ho-hum - By: X. Brown, 25 May 2008
So many mistakes! I've been crocheting for many years & could probably figure out the errors on my own, but for those just learning I can see how they would be very confused & discouraged. Most of the designs don't appeal to me or anyone that I know regardless of their ages. I have made an afghan from the skull potholder design charts & I've made the Jolly Roger sweater (another skull design) for my daughter. Nothing else appeals to me. If I'd had a look at this book in the shops instead of buying it sight unseen online, I'd have put it back on the shelf.
At last!! A crochet guide that's easy to follow!! - By: Linda Rogers, 17 May 2008
I have tried on numerous times to follow so-callled 'easy to follow' beginners crochet books/magazines always to no avail. I have usuallly been stymied by awkward wording & rubbish diagrams. So frustrated had I become that I had long ago resigned myself to the fact that I would never learn to crochet. Well, that was until about three weeks ago, when I purchased 'The Happy Hooker'. The style of writing is conversational & straightforward, & I am now a crochet addict!! Crocheting is so much easier than I ever thought, & this book is the best starting point if you want to learn the craft.
best craft book I have ever brought! - By: Victoria, 14 May 2008
amazingly easy to understand the patterns, plently of patterns to choose from, I especiallly like the bunny slippers & the flower scarf!
if you are considering buying this book I say it's a must have!
