A good read - By: Love reading, 17 Dec 2007
I bought this book based on the reviews that I read on Amazon & I'm glad I did. I haven't had a such a good read in ages. I have never read anything by this author before, but I enjoy the way she writes & found myself picking up the book whenever I could to see what was going to happen next. I have started the next book, God still don't like ugly & am a little dissapointed that it goes over quite a bit what happened in this book, but the characters are so interesting that will carry on to see what happens. Will probably try other books written by Mary Monroe.
You Will Be Hooked! - By: LoveJoy, 23 Apr 2007
God Don't Like Ugly was so very good! I could not put it down. I don't like to tell too much about a book when I write a review because I don't want to spoil it for the reader, alll I will say is buy God Don't Like Ugly & God Still Don't Like Ugly, they will have you reading from cover to cover, almost without stopping. Another reallly good page turner is This Can't Be Love! by Patricia Goins. This book will have you glued to your seat!
Yup God Don't Like Ugly - By: ricardito, 25 Oct 2006
I had been hearing about this novel for a long time, & the title sounded like it would be a great book too. I was not disappointed, & read the book in 2 days- damn having to go to work (lol!)

I did enjoy this book, although at times I admit I was frustrated that Annette did not open her mouth & tell what was happening to her, lose the weight & become the fabulous powerful woman we are alll rooting for her to become. However in reality when you speak to survivors of abuse you mind most of the time like Annette they are afraid to. As for weight this book made me look at my own weight issues, & just appreciate that we are alll beautiful & come in different shapes & sizes. Rhoda appeared to have everything, yet she was so damaged in her own way, as were alll the characters in this book. Thank you Ms Monroe for alllowed me (and I assume others) to do some soul searching as so many issues in life are reflected back at us throw your words.

I am rushing to the library tomorrow before work to go & pick up the sequel to this novel, & I am reallly looking forward to it. This is a great book, I can't recommend it enough. Good stuff!!

God Don't Like Ungly (in my eyes) - By: The book reader(audrey), 06 Aug 2004
I was given this book to read while I was on my vactaion. God Don't Like Ugly had me hooked from the time I started reading it. It took only three days to read this book, that is how good this book is. I felt for Annette & her Mother. They had been throught so much from her father leaving them, the rapes & selling herself to man. Never to have been loved by a man was so sad & her bestfriend Rhoda, who went to the limits for Annette. Annette's life was over before it started, but she did over come a lot of unhappness to because who she is today. I just wish she would have gotten more justice from the man who had raped her for so many years. If you like to read books that make you search your soul this the book to read.
