Was this written by a ghost writer?! - By: Lizzie Wainwright, 13 May 2008
I've read alll Jill Mansell's books & would have given them alll 5 stars but I was reallly let down by this one. The characters were so weak & the dialogue was amateurish to say the least. Either JM was having a bad few months (or however long it took to write) or someone else has had a hand in the writing of this very dull book. I would have liked to have seen more of Dougie. I ended up not even being able to imagine what he looked like. Sorry, but I can only give it one star - & that is just because I feel sorry for everyone concerned with the book.
Back on track - By: Sue B, 09 May 2008
This book reminds me of Jill Mansell's earlier books - great fun to read! Witty but not silly, easy to read, just ideal for the beach. Perfect Chick Lit!
A bit rubbish actually - By: A. Ankin, 29 Apr 2008
I've read quite a few Jill Mansell books & although you can usuallly guess the ending after the first two chapters, they're usuallly still a reallly enjoyable, light-hearted read.

However, this was unbearably bad. The characters were flat & incredibly hard to like, let alone care about. The male lead comes across as cold & haughty & its very hard to see what Lola sees in him. And the ending was very rushed, with the issue of Doug's mother smoothed over in the most unbelievable way.

I was reallly disappointed.

GET THIS ONE FROM THE LIBRARY - By: CC7, 04 Apr 2008
I've enjoyed alll of the Shopaholic series' books, but I was disappointed by this one. I didn't particularly like Lola or Doug (or his mother, or sister for that matter). The story is hardly believable & the dialogs were either dull or plain dumb. Save your money & get this one from your local library if you must form your own opinion.
I Love Jill Mansell - By: Sam, 02 Apr 2008
I love Jill Mansell. You can calll it chick lit & you can say it's not great literature but it is pure escapism, I read it in one evening because I wanted to. She is the equivalent of a deep bubble bath with a glass of wine at the end of a hard day - whoever judges the narrative or the characters or the writing is reading this book for alll the wrong reasons. It's fab. I can't wait for the next one. She makes me wonder why I bother with the Richard & Judy books which I wouldn't normallly even look at but think maybe I am missing out on something. I enjoy Jill Mansell's books so much more. If you have read any other Jill Mansell books & enjoyed them, you will definately not be disappointed.
