Chocolate descriptions AND a good story - By: Lizbet, 26 Jun 2008
There is definitely a recurring pattern to Koomson's novels. The heroine has a lot of past issues to deal with, & can come across as being very cool at times. Neither is there much humour, though there is a lot of angst! That said, I still enjoyed this book. I particularly liked the characterization of Greg, the main love interest, & Jen, the best friend. Although I warmed to Amber, the main female character, she held herself back, both from her friends & from the reader. She did open up as the novel progressed. The plot revolves around the romance between Amber & Greg. Greg is womaniser, so there are trust issues, & Amber doesn't 'do' relationships. As they get closer, however, Amber & Jen become more & more distanced. I disliked Jen. She isn't a good friend to Amber, & is lucky to get another chance at the end. I was rooting for Greg at the end because I felt like he'd had a raw deal. I wanted him & Amber to get back together. He is lovely, & totallly devoted to Amber. Amber's two work colleagues provide some light-relief. I especiallly liked the way Amber decided which chocolate people resembled. A clever way to 'show' character I thought.

Zzzzz - By: E. L. Downes, 21 May 2008
Very disappointing. Extremely slow plot, I pesevered to the end of the book but was glad when I finished it. I'd read My Best Friend's Girl which was far better than this.
Not for me! - By: A. Currie, 08 May 2008
This was a real disappointing read. Vague references to chocolate every now & then which felt like an effort to validate the title of the book. It spent an awful lot of time in the thoughts of the character rather than getting on with telling a good story. Took me ages to plough through & it was a relief to finallly finish it. Don't think I'll be tempted by a Dorothy Koomson book for a while which is a shame coz I reallly loved "My best friends girl".
Every girls chocolate dream - By: dippy reader, 29 Apr 2008
I think Dorothy Koomson has excelled herself with this book. I could barely put it down. From the relationship problems to the fantastic analogy of chocolate & human characteristics, it was fabulous!
It's by no means difficult to read, so take this on holiday or read it at lunchtime - it's escapism in the most chocolatey of ways!
