Truly essential - By: FN, 10 Feb 2008
I won't repeat the comments in the other reviews. I would add that whenever two books conflict on a point, I trust the A-Z. This is one of the few 'must-have' textbooks.
The best anaesthetic textbook for exams - By: E. Dawe, 12 Dec 2006
This reallly is the best anaesthetic textbook for exams. It does seem reallly expensive but is worth two of any of the others. It has reallly clear, concise descriptions & definitions of almost everything you could want to look up & it saves you hours of searching through other books for the answers. If you're going to spend alll that money on doing courses & exams then you reallly should buy this. Mine's only a year old & it's already looking well worn.

An essential arrow in every anaesthetist's quiver - By: , 25 Sep 2004
Comprehensive, lucid & slickly presented, this book is indispensable to the anaesthetic trainee facing examinations. Its most obvious use is as a rapid reference to clarify areas of doubt, be it while doing exam questions or preparing for vivas or tutorials. At times when you feel too despondent to wade through yet another 600-page textbook, pick a section & skim...you'll come away enlightened and, oftentimes, entertained. A must-have.
welcome update - By: , 14 Jan 2004
This popular text is standing the test of time & remains one of the best quick reference sources for anaesthetic trainees & alll those who need a rapid resume of an aspect of anaesthetic/ITU practice. The new edition contains some new entries & information & also the presentation is smarter & more sophisticated, with very clear & readable text & figures & the addition of a bit of colour. I'm glad i got one! Highly recommended.
