I strongly recommend this book. Some books on DOE are too complex from the statistical point of view & other contains lots of theory. It is written so that anyone with very little knowledge of statistics can understand the theory underlying the Design of Experiments. By using simply graphical analysis the author shows how to analyse Design of Experiments. This makes the book a superbly practical guide to the technique that it reallly needed in industry. It is especiallly helpful for companies implementing Six Sigma where DOE forms an important part of Black Belt training. The book concludes with two superb sections on some useful & practical tips for making your experiments successful & case studies, both of which further enhance the utility of this excellent book.
Excellent Book for Industrial and Academic Use - By: Gary Pickrell, 13 May 2005 "Design of Experiments for Engineers & Scientists" is a well written & easily understandable text on the subject of practical experimental design considerations. Whether you are a practicing engineer in business or an instructor at an academic institution, I think that you will find this to be an excellent introductory textbook. It is simple enough for an engineer that does not have an extensive statistical or mathematical background to read through once, grasp the concepts & be able to apply experimental design techniques to improve his company's performance. The graphical presentations are very helpful in this regard. It is also detailed enough to use in a graduate course to introduce engineers to the subject of practical experimental design techniques. Having held a variety of industrial engineering positions from process engineer to member of the Board of Directors before returning to academia, I feel that I am well qualified to judge the value of this book. I have taught a graduate class in experimental design techniques for several years at a major university & will include this as a text for my future classes. Being a consultant in the areas of Six Sigma, & Lean Six Sigma, I feel this text will also be very useful for my industrial clients as well!
A Practical and Easy to Follow book for Engineers - By: Anil K, 22 Jan 2005 DOE for Engineers & Scientists is a very practical & easy to read book for engineers who wanted to learn more about this powerful technique. I have tried to read many books in the topic & I was quite dismayed with the amount of statistics involved in every book I had picked up. This is the first book I have come across with very little Stats & mathematics involved in teaching a complicated technique. I would strongly recommend engineers & managers in organisations to get hold of a copy for training.

Design of Experiments for Scientists and Managers Using Simp - By: Andrew Thomas, 04 Jan 2005 Unlike many books written on the subject of Design of Experiments, I found this book very easy to read & an ideal text for alll engineers whether they be starting off on the DOE road or for the experienced engineer who has used the technique for some time.
The book also provides a well constructed development of the Six Sigma concept & shows how DOE plays the essential part in this process.
Readers will be able to gain a good understanding of DOE & Six Sigma without the need to purchase a range of supporting literature to prime themselves before reading.
