Good and full of information but.. - By: Donal Kehoe, 05 Jan 2007
This book is as i stated is full of information as im starting to study electronics soon i thought this would be a good read, but i found myself
having to go back over chapters to try & understand what he was saying.
I also started to get a bit lost after only chapter 2.I would reccommend this book as a good read if you have a basic knowledge of electronics.
Although it has some good infomation for complete beginners.
if you want to start electronics from scratch - By: , 16 Nov 2005
this is a great read. If you have no experience, theoretical or practical, with electronics, but are eager to learn the basics, this is a very good way to start. It is concise, reads very fluently & pleasantly.
Quick And Dirty Electronics for Anyone - By: sapien-red, 08 May 2004
This is my start point for people with average education in math & English , although I recommend some Stan Gibilisco before, during, & after.
I’ve recently bought a replacement from amazon for a copy (which fell to bits from re-reading & lending out) if you need to get a grip on the subject quickly or need to teach it quickly this is a good start. "if your serious you'll also need to get the equipment, tools, parts recommended" but you can do without them.
the errors in the text are few but they are there! & it makes a challlenge for you to correct, & confirm your knowledge.
(p97)C=45*10 -12 * 0.002/0.01 "mica is 54*10 -12 in the text"
(should be ~ 11pf)and mica is 3 to 7 relative so go figure?
see Bernard babani books (cheap)
see Stan Gibilisco (basics up!)
see Hughes electrical technology (advanced)
see countdown to mathematics vol. 1 & 2 (if needed)
see the finger & miss the heavenly body LOL
Starting Electronics Second Edition - By: , 01 Oct 2003
The book has some useful information but the author treats the reader in a very patronising way. The book starts off well, but then tries to run before teaching you to walk. At times I was confused & frustrated with the way the book treated the reader & the way it teaches the basic. I would not recommend it.
For electonic ninjas and no hopers alike! Great Book! - By: jjrichens@hotmail.com, 08 Mar 2002
Mr Brindley explains electronics in the way you wish your teachers had years ago. Concise & easy to read, this book is great for recapping on your fundamentals, or learning from scratch. 6 months after reading the first edition, I was assembling radio circuits. Highly reccomended, Mr Brindley, I salute you.
