Before the hype... - By: Chintan Nanavati, 04 Jul 2008

One Last Time is, for me, a seminal work. That is not to say there aren't more important or more insightful or more useful books out there on this subject. (Having said which, I haven't found one yet!) John Edward has had a profound influence on my life, so I'll admit to considerable bias. His (pre-stardom) story is fascinating. His down-to-earth, regular guy personality is a refreshing change from the plethora of mystical morons out there. I think John's greatest contribution to the field has been to demystify the process, to truly humanise it & to spread the word far & wide better than anyone before. Although on his show Crossing Over he may occasionallly come out with some intriguing information, too much of what he does leaves him open to accusations of cold reading etc. (Frankly, in my limited experience, I have witnessed & undergone far more astounding phenomena of spirit communication/clairvoyance/clairaudience than anything described in this, or any other, book.)
John's later books, thus far, have been more showbizzy and, therefore, a lot less profound. But I suppose that is inevitable. I'm also a little perturbed by the quite astronomical amounts he charges for private readings/seminars etc. On the other hand, he is a pioneer for the 21st century & is merely reaping what he, himself, has sown.
A fantastic introduction, then, to talking with the dead. And, although I don't agree with everything he says - especiallly about psychic protection & psychic vampires (!) - his development tapes & CDs are also well worth getting hold of.

Very readable, hopeful book - By: Book Worm, 14 Feb 2008
I bought this book very recently & I haven't been able to put it down since. I was introduced to John Edward through his show on "Living" & have been reallly impressed with what he does there & how accurate he appears to be.

I'd say I am in that majority group who aren't sure if this is real or not, however I do find it very hopeful that there could be an "other side" & that those that we have lost could be looking over us.

I found the beginning of this book where John talks about his childhood & his own skepticism about mediumship psychic powers lent this story more credence.
As phychic medium books go, this one is a belter - By: edd101, 02 Jan 2008
Firstly, i have to say that this book is a compelling read. I read it within 7 days & found that John Edward has a great writing style.

Only an absolute cynic(and someone i would usuallly give a wide berth)would walk away from this book not having been moved or enlightened by it's contents; it gives food for thought that the soul is indeed eternal.

John starts the book by talking about his early years & his mums obsession with seeing mediums, then into teenage years when he started to see the spiritual light & become less cynical himself about something that would later take over his life slowly but surely.

As you progress through the book you get to grips with more of John's heartfelt moments of losing various family members & the moving moments when spirits have come through to him & one little boy spirit in particular that saved a life on John's wedding day.
Must Read! - By: Jiylees, 13 Nov 2007
My sister found this book by chance in the library & told me to read it. I was a complete skeptic until I read this book. I read it not long after my gran passed away & I found it a huge comfort.
Quite simply - this man has an incredible gift & whom I believe is completely genuine. I would recommend this book to anyone.
One Last Time - By: P. MCGLONE, 27 Sep 2007
There are not many books that I find it hard to put down but this was one of them. John Edward's style of writing is engaging & humourous. The accounts of his readings of clients often left me with a mixture of feelings: sadness for the losses which the people had suffered often in tragic circumstances, but also amazement at the amount of factual evidence of survival which came through & the inventiveness of the spirit energies in making their connections. John gives a straight forward description & explanation of his experience of the process & how he understands it.

I know there will be some who will doubt the validity of what they are reading & I guess ultimately we alll need our own personal experience for our own proof. Mine came some years back when I attended a Spiritualist Church. Some people were picking up on a spirit boy's presence. The next moment I saw him with my physical eye on the far side of the room as clearly as I could see anyone else. The next minute he appeared right in front of me. This experience not only proved survival to me but it also proved the validity of mediumship. However, it also demonstrated that communication with those in the Spirit World is not easy for them or for us.
