A great read - By: G. Tomlinson, 03 Sep 2006
I first started reading Adrian Mole when I was 9 & I didn't understand most of it but now reading it over & over again I have full understood it & I love it? This book combines the first 3 Adrian Mole books going from 13-23. It's a funny book & a must read
Still an entertaining read, nearly 20 years later - By: , 13 Dec 2001
When I first discovered 'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 & 3/4' I was around the same age as Adrian. I was so busy trying to identify with Adrian, I missed most of the humour.
Re-reading the first three Adrian Mole books in 'From Major to Minor' at the age of 32 has been a joy. I found them hilarious. Adrian is a neurotic, hypochondriac young man. He thinks himself an intellectual, though he's actuallly quite dim. He aims to be a great writer, but his writing (sampled in his diary) is very, very bad.
Adrian Mole's memoirs can be read & enjoyed by just about everyone. As a teenager, I identified with Adrian's 'no one understands my angst' attitude. As an adult I found his neuroses & misunderstandings highly amusing!
'From Minor to Major' takes Adrian from 13 to 23. Sue Townsend has created a realistic, three dimensional character. For alll his faults, Adrian comes across as being real, & ultimately his heart is usuallly in the right place. I look forward to reading 'The Wilderness Years' & 'The Capuccino Years'.
The best way to spend a trans-Atlantic flight that I know of - By: Andie Rathbone, 03 Apr 2001
How have I missed Adrian Mole, to say nothing of his crazy parents, Pandora, the Singhs, Bert Baxter & Queenie, Sabre & alll the rest? I picked this book up in WH Smith in Paris...as I needed something to read on the plane back to the US & laughed out-loud (disturbing the rest of business class) on the flight home.
American readers may want to skip to the Glossary in the "Growing Pains" volume if they aren't conversant with Brit Speak, but everyone can identify with the trials of growing up.
I'm here to buy The Wilderness Years & The Capuccino Years. I hope Adrian goes on forever!
A must-have - By: , 26 Dec 2000
This is The Bible for alll Adrian's fans. Three books in one is as good as it gets. Something that everyone who enjoys a good laugh should read. I read the books in Slovene several times, but still was tempted to read an original & I loved it. Adrian's naivety (which seems more like stupidity at times), his (un)usual adolescent problems, Pandora, Dog, Bert Baxter, etc. are what make this book worth reading. Congratulations to the author! She made me believe that Adrian Mole truly exists. And this is what a good book is alll about!
