not great - By: Ms. L. Mcnally, 05 Oct 2008
this is callled advdanced german vocab. but it has very little to offer advanced learners. it advertises an easy way to learn advanced vocabulary. easy for who? for the people who wrote it, i think, as they clearly didn't put much effort in.
this is ok for german vocabulary but it doesn't have a great deal of relevant vocabulary, the amount that is offered in each section is smalll & i always found that i couldnt find the words or phrases i wanted. for a more conscise list around the same price try Wort Fur Wort. it has far more to offer & the same publisher also does the french Mot A Mot which is also great.
there is a spanish one too.
for school & college level & beyond try Teach Youself German Vocab BY Lisa Khalen.
A-Level German - By: Alexander M. C. Hayton, 09 Nov 2006
There are two things to say about this book...
1)It's great if you are doing A-Level German, covering alll the major topics imaginable.
2)In spite of No.1, the thematic approach does not help if you sre trying to find a word youve seen but can't remember where... I KNOW - get a dictionary right? Is still a little frustrating. Good amount of words though, use this in conjunction with "Wort Fuer Wort..." & you cant go far wrong so ****.
My overall attitude of the book! - By: picodilious@hotmail.com, 08 Nov 2001
This book was originallly one of my set books in As-level German, & after costs of other books this definately was not a regretful buy! When I first opened the book I was stunned at the excellent presentation & found the 'Vokabeltips' extremely helpful.
The book has become a great asset, & aided me to extend my German vocabulary/skill. Enabling a new impressive range of sentence, only possible through the books extensive vocabulary.
Overalll the book has been a great investment with no doubt in my mind the influence it has had on my overalll German.
