R&R Review - By: , 23 Jul 1999
The third book of the Chronicles of Hawklan, Hawklan is unconscious rescued from Islomann, big parts of Vakloss destroyed, Dan Tor hurt from an arrow from Hawklan. Hawklan, Islomann & queen Sylvriss fleeing to Lord Eldrics castle. From there queen Sylvriss departs to Riddin, Islomann & unconscious Hawklan depart to Orthlundyn. The Lords start to move with an army against Vakloss... To make it short, this book is in mayor part a preparation for the final Conclusion in the next book. The discription of this preparation is definitely to long. There are mayor critics. The queen Sylvriss is too pathetic developed in this book. Big parts of the story of the Cadvanwr & Andawyr should be placed in the second book because explanations for something happening in the first book is wrong placed in the third book. The conflict between Orthlundyn army & the Alphraan is told to maximal extension. Less would have been better. All this tires the reader & has door stopper tendency. In comparison to the first two books this is definitely a step back. Too talkative & far reaching.
