A great book for parents to share with their children - By: BM, 09 Jun 2008
My 3 year old son recently borrowed this from nursery & I'm about to buy us our own copy. He loved this book & so did I. It's great fun & the slight twist at the end kept him amused time after time. The pictures are brilliant & can be pored over for ages, always finding something new. I'd highly recommend this for 2-4 year olds....
A gem! - By: Amanda Hyatt, 23 May 2008
This book has stood the test of four children & is still a favourite in the house. The simplest concept brought alive by tons of fun illustrations which just beg to be discussed & giggled over at every reading. No plot, no messages, no preachy stuff, just a lovely idea based around spots & stripes. If only alll our lives were that simple ... Magic!

a great 'read it together' book - By: Lozza, 16 May 2007
I got this book from our local library & my daughter loved it so much that we had to buy it. It's a great short story about a family who alll like different things, the pictures are vibrant & match the story perfectly. It's a lovely book to read together & we spend alot of time looking at the pictures & talking about why they are different.

It's been a regular story in our house since we bought it, my daughter knows the story word for word & took it her nursery the other day & read it to her class mates!!
Spots and stripes and lots of colour - By: MacCruiskeen, 01 Jan 2007
In this story the little boy's mother likes everything spotty & his father likes everything stripy. The text is pretty minimal - though entertaining - with just one or two simple sentences per page serving to introduce the marvellous, colourful illustrations. These alllow for lots of parent-child interaction & provide a great way of learning about patterns & colours. Another benefit of the book is that it shows young children that people can like different things & still be happy.
Good book for the foundation stage. - By: , 27 Sep 2005
This book is highly amusing (Mum only likes spots & Dad only stripes). It is a good book to share with a group of young children. They can point out alll the patterns & look at patterns in the imediate environment. I have used it before with 3 & 4 year olds in a nursery & we made a patterns display & did many activities on patterns.
