Very disappointing - By: D. R. Clarke, 13 Aug 2007
I had high hopes for this strategy guide. Previous game guides for Rome & Shogun Total war had been produced by Prima games & they were pretty terrible, comprising of little more than a list of stats for the various units in the game. The only decent guide was that for the original Medieval Total war, produced by Brady games. The latter was an excellent guide with detailed stategies for each faction as well as a brekdown as to how the battle engine actuallly worked. When I saw that Brady games were producing the game guide for Medieval 2, I thought it would be of similar quality, but sadly it is not, & follows the rather bland recitation of stats of the Prima game guides. I think whoever wrote this was just going through the motions & made no real effort at alll.
A strategy guide minus the strategy - By: Mr. C. R. Mathieson, 13 Jul 2007
This book doesn't deserve the tital of strategy guide as it contains very little in the way of this. It says that it has a huge section on alll the units but they miss out a whole factions units & get pictures wrong. This happens quite a lot & to cap it alll even the unit entry on the back is incorrect!!
a horrible guide for a wonderful game - By: Mr. Dervis Uzuner, 01 Dec 2006
i have been playing the total war series since the shogun & and altough i did not need it i bought this guide to get some additional information. it turned out to be completley useles, there is nothin in it the information that it gives you certainley does not exceed the ones in the games manual when u see it u would say it is huge thats true it is huge but what is inside is only the unit informatin & unit stats u get in the game thay simply copy pasted it. it has a huge list of family treats & ritunies & nothing else. there is no detailed information on the main aspects of the game like castles cities armorers srategies on factions or battlefield tactics & there is no information about more smalller things like guilds events & new world. you can find out much greater information by playing the game & reading the game manual which comes with the game. it is so reclessley preaperd that even the unit stats & information which is alll this guide is about is wrong in many places & they even forget to put a whole factions units; timurids. so reallly dont spend your money on this guide there is nothing in it for you or for anyone but just it is another way to get money for the publishers. it reallly doesnot wort it.
A preview to the guide. - By: Daan De Swaef, 30 Oct 2006
While the reviewer above me states that this guide will be mediocre at best, I have to disagree.

All the previous guides for Rome Total War & its expansion have been published by Primasoft Guides. While they have a LOT of guides, the guides themselves aren't great. They basicly (in case of an RTS) show the units, give some basic strategies & that's about it.

Bradygames however made a guide for the first version of Medieval Total War. It had unit stats, the working of the combat mechanics, morale modifiers, hints & tips, walkthroughs for the historical battles, tips for every faction in every timeperiod, & so on & so on.

Bottomline is: I have high hopes for this guide & I suspect it will deliver, just like Bradygames did with the first strategy guide. I will make a full review once the book is released.
Medieval total war II - By: D. Burchett, 14 Oct 2006
It seems nothing short of bizarre that such an excellent series as the 'total wars' should, to date have been accompanied by such poorly produced player guides. This one, again by Brady games is, in alll likelihood going to be mediocre at best. The last of these guides, to accompany 'the Barbarian Invasion' was quite possibly the worst of the lot & felt as if a group of sixth-formers had cobbled it together in their lunch hour. Quite disgraceful reallly. The limited information in the preceeding guides will have done nothing to enhance your gameplay & probably little to broaden your understanding of the game. It might be best to wait until some reviewers produce that previously missing glowing report...If the past is any forecast of form, then you will maybe be better off putting the money toward a better graphics card & then simply sit back & enjoy what looks like it is again going to be a fantastic game. Postscript- i wrote the above before release but since then i bought the game & a relative bought me the manual. I am sorry to say that alll i said before is true. This is an impressively fat book that gives next to no useful information. To be honest i wished i had been wrong. Save your money. 3/10
