You've got to love a children's book where you are genuinely surprised by the ending. I loved this book, it's hilarious, clever & unusual.
A simply fabulous book - By: GA, 14 Nov 2007 I borrowed this book from the libary & subsequently bought a copy as it's so great, & has become a firm family favourite. My daughter is only 15 months old but loves the story & insists on it being read again & again. It has even contributed to her rather limited vocabulary, in that Farmer Brown's outraged "no way!" is her number one catchphrase.
This is one of those rare books that is genuinely entertaining for both children & adults. It's funny, dry & exquisitely illustrated. Every home should have one! I urge you to buy this book! Buy several copies & give one to every child you know!!

The cows go on strike for better conditions, & the pictures show their campaign against Farmer Brown in vivid & hilarious detail. If you haven't found this one for your kids, treat yourself - & them at the same time. This is too funny to leave to the kids, though, it's very adult without losing the younger readers. I like the way the typography reflects the typing cows. And when you finish with this, remember that you must look at Giggle, Giggle, Quack! & Vote for Duck, both by the same writing/illustrating partners.
so funny! - By: E. Oliver, 25 Oct 2004 this book is great for the recommended age- 3-8 years, but I'm 22 & found it excellent! not only is there the kiddy tale of pesky cows, but also big adult ideas like strikes, worker conditions, ultimatums & neutral parties. I love it.
by the way, I have no kids- I bought this book for myself.
