Not a drawing guide - By: Junishi no Tatsu, 18 Aug 2008
Pretty much, it's what it says on the tin, a collection of pieces of professional manga lineart that the user can put together. The book shows ideas & how to put the pieces together.

While it's nice to give you ideas for references, it doesn't teach you how to draw at alll, making the whole concept of creating your own characters rather limited.
Great Idea, dissapointing to use - By: A. Groves, 11 Aug 2008
I first saw this in a Waterstones & it was on my wish list for a while, so i was thrilled when it arrived today.
After playing around somewhat i am now dissapointed.

The Idea of the book & cd is excellent. Mix & match & learn about creating the manga style images right on the computer & create some great art for total beginners.

First of alll, the Adobe Elements was annoying to installl as my usual imaging software just couldn't cope with alll the seperate layers.
Once loaded the software was slow to do anything, from opening to cropping etc.

Put it like this, if you don't have adobe software you are screwed. The images are nice & basic but often fit together reallly badly even with tweaking. For example; you can't open alll the head files in your layers palllete, just the heads in the particular file you opened. You have to keep flicking back & forth to exchange elements. The accessories file was a great idea to futher customise the images . . . IF the little accessories weren't lumped together in one big image.

All in alll i am annoyed at this purchase, save your money & buy real Manga to copy from instead.
Because i had to i gave this one star rating. I'd rather have left it zero.
