Informative and Complicated, For The Ceremonial and Not The Naturalist! - By: Earth Gypsy, 07 Nov 2008
Written as a general review on her books of which I have most of them & with whom I started off with on My Wicca path. I have studied Wiccan though for many years.

As a naturalist I prefer to keep things simple & natural! Silver's approach doesn't reallly do it for me as I prefer a more folk/gypsy style way of approaching Wicca & Magick in general...

Silver's book are witty, informative, packed with information & idea's & reallly teach you in depth Wicca but not how to put it alll together in your head in an enjoyable & easy kind of way so you can practice on your own. She encourages you to design & find your own way of designing spells & rituals but only within specific guidelines leaving you still confused & as to how to go about it! She has a bit of a stiff & technical approach to the teaching & ethics of Wiccan practice & her idea's, spells & rituals are hard & fastly set.

If you are looking for a more relaxed & easy approach then I would not recommend her books. I highly recommend Patricia Telesco's style of teaching first & then go on to Silver's books if you are looking for a more complicated & ceremonial style of Wicca.
Dire Tripe - By: Wira P., 08 Oct 2008
I realise that people are going to be queing up to click the "unhelpful" box after I write this review, but I'm going to say what I want to say anyway.

I'm not going to say that RavenWolf Witches aren't Wiccan; I'm not going to say that my beliefs are more valid than hers; I'm not going to pick out every detail I don't like (which would take forever) & bore you to death about it. I am going to say that in this massive book I didn't find a single thing which I found helpful. RavenWolf herself tells you not to follow anything you're uncomfortable with, & boy, does this make me uncomfortable.

I'm not going to tell you not to buy a book by her if you want to, but fot the Gods' sake borrow a copy from somwhere first, & see if you reallly want to have a copy of your own. I've given mine away, & I won't be asking it back.

Buy something by Kaatryn MacMorgan instead, & save yourself from going through the "fluffy" stage.
ULTIMATE? Quite right! - By: Katie-Daly, 04 Jul 2008
Brilliant book, one of Silver's finest. It suprised me with it's sheer size, the book is huge!
It covers everything I have ever needed a bit of information on, alll written in Silver's lovely style. Every time I go to read it, I discover something new, & I practicallly inhale books at this stage.
I'd highly recommend it for anyone new to the Craft, or an old veteran.
Five stars.
Brilliant - By: L. Tough, 05 Jun 2007
I have found this book very helpful in starting in the Craft as well as continuing along the path. Other than magazines & sites, such as Children of Artemis, this has been my only guide. In my eyes it is well-structured & I recommend it to any of you that enjoys a conversation, almost informal, style of writing when reading non-fiction (it is very important to find a guide that speaks to you in a way that you will understand it better). I have found it very easy to use & love the different sections it is set out in (the contents for each section along with the index & footnotes are also great when you're not entirely sure of something either in the text you are reading or another text). Overalll, it covers a lot of ground & is a good base for beginners - Silver also gives recommendations of other authors or books on certain subjects, especiallly on specialist magicks.
Good but could have been better - By: M. Tomlinson, 26 Aug 2006
In silver's other books she says that new generation witches can be both young & old so why only include spells for teens?Include some fine but what about her adult fans? Why not just put in some general spells that can be used by both groups? This reallly lets the book down in my opinion. Its still a good book but I'm dissappointed that more thought wasn't given to her older readers.
