Very Well Written - This Author knows his chickens! - By: S. Felstead, 30 Oct 2008
I am undertaking a dissertation titled: The CDM Regulations - What are the changes alll about?.

This is the second book I am reading by Raymond Joyce, the previous being CDM Regulations 1994 Explained (2nd edition). I am now reading this latest book in line with the revised regulations on 6th April 2007.

Raymond has produced a well formatted publication, & he often makes reference to his experiences & argues in a 'balanced' manor with supporting evidence. When you read a book like this you want to hear it from someone with the 'on hands' experience (I believe Raymond has been involved in this field for the past 12 years - & so is up to date with the times so to speak).

The CDM regulations are 'explained', making for easy informative reading, & the contents tries to avoid being dry like other books that attempt to help construction professionals comply with statutory duty. Reading about 'Health & safety' comes across as very dry to many people, this book flows very well.

As a student £50 was expensive but I feel a worth while investment as it has provided me with the ground knowledge to build upon. I have only been studying the CDM regulations for 6 weeks, & already I have learnt so much.

If you want to know how to comply with your duty holder obligations & the new CDM 2007 regulations as a whole, buying this book is a sound investment. The structure guides you through the entire Regulations.

I would also advise CDM 2007 Q&A by Pat Perry - 'to the point' reference guide.
