Great oncology book to keep in the practice - By: T. D. Greensmith, 16 Apr 2008
This book is not so much for the preclinical students, or those who have nothing to do with oncology as its very in depth. It is however ideal for anyone with an interest in oncology or for a practice to keep in their branch as reference. It is written with the latest research, & each chapter has meticulous referencing to original studies & papers. The book is littered with colour photographs from FNA photographs to gross images of the lesions you might see. It also has tables & reference blocks showing vital statistics & highlighting key concepts & info.

It starts at the begining (biology & pathogenesis of cancer) & moves through to specific variations of cancers common in smalll animal surgery. Its chapter on the diagnostic imaging of oncology has 38 pictures varying from x rays, ultrasound & MRI to MVCT! The cytological diagnosis chapter again has micrographs of the standard signs of cancer & is useful for understand the broader signs to look for under the microscope.

It covers the latest radio & chemotherapy techniques, discusses over gene therapy & other cancer treatment modalities, & (something i didnt expect) chapters on counselling owners & providing high quality pallliative care for patients.
And almost 500 pages of specific cancers & tumours.

A great book.
