Pshychologically stimulating and factually interesting. - By: , 08 Mar 2000
Ray Davies leader of the most influential group of the 20th century uses this autobiography to give the reader an insight into life in the `swinging 60s' & early 70s & outlines the history of the kinks. The book describes the controversy surrrounding the Kinks & is particularly interesting to fansas `RD' describes what he was thinking when he wrote the songs & how he reacted to the successes & failure of the music industry. Non-Kinks fans who enjoy thrillers will find the pshychological element particularly stimulating. A great book.
My review will consist of the way the book was arranged. - By: , 12 Sep 1999
The book was intrigiuing with its invention of new literary devices. Being younger than most of the crowd following Ray Davies I found insightful the comments mentioned about his earlier songs. One of the let-downs was the vague information about his Albums , however I enjoyed the socio - economic satire of Muswell was quite surprisinging . It,s a good bang for the buck. l
