Although being a very pretty book to browse i do no think ill make anything from it. Although a nice book for inspiration.

I was reallly excited & pleased to recive this book & am well impresed by the easy to do crafts on offer for christmas. This is truley a book that offers easy & harder projects that can be mixed & matched.I have enjoyed it so much will not be parting with it for many years to come.
just gorgeous - By: K. R. Moore, 16 Oct 2008 I am glad I read the other reviews after I bought the book. They were a mixed bunch of reviews but the book is just superb! Yes, the style of some of the figures is similar to some of the other books, but the subtle differences in the patterns mean that accumulating alll the books & their patterns provides a fantastic resource if you would like to use them as templates & do something very alternative & creative of your own styling. In addition, the ideas for mittens, scarves, poncho & apron as gifts are reallly lovely - sometimes its the simplest ideas that delight the most. I didn't particularly like the disembodied angel motif but I know people that would like it - so I can only deduce that there is something for everybody in this book. Don't be put off by negative comments: there is enough in this book that even just making one or two of the many items justifies the price that the booksellers on Amazon are charging, especiallly when compared to the price of toy patterns in dressmaking pattern books.
Modern and original - By: A. Barber, 11 Oct 2008 I was given this book for my birthday after buying "Sew Pretty Homestyle" for myself. I was equallly pleased with both of them. I have very little experience of needlework & am quite young (24), in the past I have only been able to find new books but with reallly aged projects that have been around for years.
This was very refreshing. Very beautiful projects that seem simple to make & are very "now". I have just bought the equipment needed & can't wait to start the Christmas decorations particularly the little boots.
Downsides? I would say too many of those angels! And for complete beginners it might be useful to mention alll the little things that are taken for granted as known, such as what stitch to use for the main work(backstitch?) rather than just "sew". However, this is a very smalll gripe, alll other details are well covered.
Just more of the same - By: M. Remnant, 06 Sep 2008 If you don't have the earlier book, Sew Pretty Homestyle, then this is a great book to have. But the techniques used, though clever in their simplicity, are the same as those in the earlier book. The slippers, dolls, fruit, etc, are more or less identical, just in different fabrics. The Babushka dolls are new & different though & very nice. The author has made the effort to include a section on boys' bedrooms but this is a bit unrealistic: far too pretty & girly for most little boys. This is a beautiful book & worth owning for that alone, but much of the beauty comes from the use of the author's own, speciallly designed fabrics, wrapping papers & paper cutouts. Would the items look as good made from other (less expensive) materials? Probably not.
