I am in the business.

Trust me on this, insider knowledge.
Geared more for the first years or 'potential' nursing students - By: Kate Philp, 06 Oct 2008
A pragmatic book written for Student Nurses by someone who has `been there & got the t-shirt'. By covering nursing history, current roles & bandings it already is at risk of dating. Chapters are varied; academia, confidentiality & NMC guidelines to name a few, however the lack of detail questions whether this is a `handbook'. The chapter on placements has incredibly pragmatic advice for new students & therefore feel this book would suit someone considering nursing or at best a 1st year. Undoubtedly Siviters sense of humour is discreetly in abundance & reassuring from an `unconfident student' perspective.
I do feel there are better books geared towards students already on the course, however if you want a easy reading basic insight, covering varying topics in lesser detail this may be the book for you, however if you are already studying I would say save your money, there is better out there

Student Nurse Handbook - By: D. Allen, 08 Sep 2008
This book is a superb guide for getting started as a pre registration student, it is packed with a host of useful information & is indespensible is guiding students through those tough few months.
The book gives a superb account of how to tackle assignments, how to avoid acts og plaigerism has reviews on medications, reflective practice, portfolios & much more.
The book apparently was written from views of students & what they thought they would like in a book, & this book was put together from alll the information gathered, it is very clearly written & easy to understand, & above alll will give a superb starter for getting you through not only your first year but will guide you through most of your program.
I have to say that this book has been an absolute gem of a read.
