comically bad - By: A. Moore, 26 Dec 2007
I smell a rat here... alll reviews giving this book than 1 star have to be by the writer's friends. A colleague & I had a competition to find the worst published novel in existence, & this is what I came up with. His was 'Camden Girls' by Jane someone or other. I had to concede defeat, but only because CG is surreallly bad, like something written by a seven-year old. This isn't far off though. Worth a look from an 'academic' perspective if you are labouring under the illusion that a novel has to be of reasonable quality to be published by a major publisher.
stunning - By: A. R. Rothwell, 23 Sep 2007
This was the first book in a long time that I read in two sittings. It was, literallly, un-put-downable. As a mother, I was heartbroken by the grief, misery & loss of the heroine's bereavement. There are a lot of funny interludes & witty converstion to make a vivid contrast.
Outstanding multilayered drama - By: W. Gilly, 04 Jun 2007
I am surprised to find that the reviews are largely either one star or five stars. This book moved me & I couldn't put it down. It had me laughing in parts & crying in parts (and therefore I don't recommend this as reading while waiting for a bus. The main character remains a mystery but she is hard not to love. The simplicity with which she describes her devastation as she writes to Osama Bin Laden, is sometimes heart wrenching & sometimes uplifting. This is one of the best books I have read in years but I understand how the described heartache has caused some adverse reaction in the audience. It is hard to have a raw nerve touched.
what a waste of money!!!!! - By: maud, 20 Jan 2007
It is actuallly the first time I write a customer review but i feel I have to, I think this is actuallly the worst book i have ever read!!!!!!!! this book is so awful that it actuallly made me feel angry against the writter. Nothing good to say about it, it's just a waste of money & time!!!!
Breathtakingly Fabulous Book - By: Book Fiend, 02 Aug 2006
A great first novel. Gripping, raw, daring & darkly hilarious. A very well put-together story. I can't think what the rest of you are moaning about!
