Amazing People - By: , 21 Aug 2003
I first learnt of this book from a friend, after the hype of the Sir Robert Winston’s discoveries into IVF. I wanted to find out more about the work of this great man, & how he had achieved so much in his life.

As an Undergraduate I wanted to find out how people manage to be so successful in their careers, perhaps they had been given a ‘helping hand’, or had just got lucky? No, they are alll people who started out the same as you & I, & worked hard for what they believe in.

I thought that the interviews might be a bit too ‘heavy going’, but this book instead unearthed for me a series of people who were alll geniuses in their own field. The interviews with Joanna Lumley & Esther Rantzen turned out to be my favourites, perhaps because they are both household names.

It is a book that is well worth reading, some of the people I hardly knew of! But now I feel like I could do something worthwhile with my life too. The book is one that lends itself to more than one read – you discover more things each time you delve into it.

The next stage for me is to buy In the Psychiatrist’s Chair Book 1!
