Twiggy --- A True Icon! - By: Jake M, 11 Apr 2008
I enjoyed this book a great deal, Twiggy comes across as a wonderful woman who has achived so much in her career, a model, actress, singer & TV presenter, this lady has down it alll & is still so down to earth.
If you're a fan of Twiggy, this is a book you have got to get hold off. I knew very little about her life & career but feel that I know her a lot better now, almost personallly, she is so open & has nothing to hide, a strong, beautiful woman in alll.
Twiggy in Black & White --- a wonderful memoir!
Twiggy: Candid, Bright and Beautiful! - By: veganow@aol.com, 12 Nov 2000
Twiggy is a woman who knows herself. She has no illusions of who she is & she is at peace with herself. I admire her immensely because she has set her priorities in her life & because of that, she has many friends & admirers. Her family is her number one priority in her life, but she is ambitious. Her book is a fun read, but she has has had her rough times in life & she does not gloss over her first marriage which ended due to her husband's alcoholism. It has not been until now that Twiggy has spoken honestly about Michael Whitney & his chronic alcoholism. She kept her private life private due to her daughter. Twiggy is now married to Leigh Lawson, & I do wish the book had included her criticallly aclaimed off-Broadway musical, "If Love Were All." She has proven that the skinny model who was predicted to last six months is still here & it is due to her talent as a singer & actress. It is also her personality. She never ceases to fascinate! She has appeared in many films, some she doesn't mention in her book. She doesn't mention "Istanbul" a film that did not do well nor others that were critical failures. Still, she gave marvelous performances in "The Little Matchstick Girl", "The Young Charlie Chaplin" & I hope she does more film work. Now it is the stagework with both "Blithe Spirit" & "If Love Were All" being highly successful. Twiggy is more than a 60s icon. I found myself far more interested in her life evolving from a sensation in 1967 to actress & singer. Her connections with actors & musicians. Twiggy is still here because she is a fine singer, actress, & she is far from being a dumb blonde! On the contrary, her book shows a very astute woman. We have not seen the last of Twiggy Lawson. I suspect the best is yet to come & I wholeheartedly welcome whatever work she has forthcoming! I recommend the soundtrack of "If Love Were All" along with her book. The two are a wonderful. Twiggy, not just a pretty face, she is a talented artist. Enjoy her book. I certainly did.
