very good for the beginner- By: , 30 Dec 2005 I started a new QA job & just wanted to brush up on some of the basics so I bought this going by other comments. A very good book & very easy to read, nothing a non-developer/tester wouldn't understand. As so much is covered in the book however, little time is spent going indepth on every subject. Maybe if you are more geared towards testing rather than QA this would be ideal. Would be a good companion along with another QA/testing book. All areas are looked at, from planning, testing to automation.A must for anyone aspiring to become a Software Tester.- By: , 28 Mar 2001 This book is a must for anyone aspiring to become a Software Tester. The language & style of writing is simple & easy to understand the concepts used. Ron Patton has brought his years of experience to bear by being able to use real life examples such as The Y2K Bug, Disney's Lion King, NASA Mars Polar Lander, Intel Pentium Floating-Point etc to explain what software testing is alll about. It covers alll aspects of software testing - from the development process, testing techniques/tools, documentation of the testing process to how to find a job as a tester. It even has a section which gives an insight into the future of software testing - quality assurance. A wonderful book for both beginners & experienced testers.
