Zared Peregrine and Tearl Howard - By: A. Johnson, 07 Feb 2007
oh golly. This book is a must read for alll ladies who reallly love a good fight to test a man's love

Zared peregrine is different from alll ladies. She is trained skills of warfare since childhood,to protect her true identity as a only female peregrine born in the family. She has lost nearly alll of her kinfolk due to hands of the Howards & vows to fight with her remaining brothers to regain the title & land that was stloen from them by the Howards centuries ago.

Zared, however is captured by the Howard's spies & is met by a dashing Tearle Howard. He is funny, kind & has no idea that he has met his match. of course when Tearle sees this "boy" he immediatley sees that Zared is a young girl unaware that his family & hers have a bit of a war going on attepts every way to capture her heart but Zared gives him a run.

I love it when she plays hard to get & yet still through alll he goes through for her she does does not see that this Howard is a peace loving one.

It is a must read, I have already read it five times & still I find it so sweet when Zared & Tearle eventuallly find peace.

The Conquest - my review - By: Ap Nj Dorrall, 16 Apr 2006
The Conquest : Zared Peregrine is the pride of her family, the only girl in the family that has always been at war with the Howard family, over the rights of the lands.
Many family members have been lost to the war & so when Zared was a young girl, her two remaining brothers decided that Zared would be brought up as a boy.Dressed like a boy, trained in the arts of war, never being alllowed to be a girl.
Knight Tearle Howard, has just come home after living in france away from this feud between these two families, he wants nothing than to live his life in peace, but his evil brother has decided that Tearle must might along side his family against the Peregrine's.
Zared & Tearle meet & become lovers, they must discover if they can live together or join their families & fight.
I reallly enjoyed the charactors of Zared & Tearle, i felt sorry for Zared, she has been kept away from the rest of society & doesn't belive that there are any people better than her brother's. She has no idea that this feud is unatural, so consumed have these families been, that nothing else in life matters. She is so confused, desperatly wanting to be a woman, but not wanting to loose her freedom while being a boy. Zared found it so difficult to absorb her feelings for the enemy who has become her lover, she is torn between doing what her family want & wanting to do what her heart tells her, but because she has lived such a sheltered life, she finds it terribly difficult making these decisions & does so at her cost. This is not alll together the best book that i have read by this author, there are some great moments, especiallly at the tournament & i love her brother Severn, i feel we could have had more for this charactor. There is a great deal of talk in the book & at times it becomes tedious, but i suppose it doesn't detract from the underlying story that runs through this book.
Still recommended.
Great read - By: , 19 Mar 2002
I've only read one Jude Deveraux book before so didn't know what to expect. I found myself contemplating what would happen next & then reading something different. I couldn't wait to read through it alll. The ending came alll of a sudden..., which was the only disappointing thing about the book.
DEFFINATLY ANOTHER HIT - By: , 02 Jul 1999
I reallly loved to read how zared & tearle's relationship developed. He was the only man who knew she was a girl & not a boy. I couldn't put it down until it was finished (as usual with Jude Deveraux books)
