I have just discovered that Mary Brown died a few years ago which is why I haven't been able to find any recent books by her. I have read this book several times & always delight in it. The characters are so alive & despite it being a fantasy they are so believable. She had so much talent & I am devastated by the news.

This is by far the best book I have read. - By: , 11 Nov 1998 I love the way the lives of alll of the characters intertwine. This book has a very magical & mystical storyline. The book leaves you to decide if the journey was worth it or were the characters better off the way they were.
This is a comfort book. - By: , 16 Jul 1998 Having found this book on a clearance table, I have to say it is probably the best $2.75 I've ever spent. I was caught up in the characters & their friendships right away & felt as though I were right there with them. This is one of my "comfort" books, you need a reallly good story but don't know what you feel like getting into, this would be one to choose.

A magical story of the human-animal connection intertwined with a poignant tale of young love. My wife & I have read it a times & love it. Would love to read something more by the author, but have not found anything so far.
