In Enemy Hands - By: , 10 Feb 2004
The Harrington saga continues. Of course, the Peeps are still out to win the war that never ends. The create devious plots that challlenge Manticore to the utmost. Ms. Harrington is drafted into service again, though her duties as Steadholder are more than enough for one person to deal with. Because of her extreme experiences, the bond between Honor & Nimitz are even stronger, & Honor is constantly fed the feelings of others. Through this she discovers that Earl Hamish Alexander is strongly attracted to her. This proves too much for Ms. Harrington & she uses the opportunity to take command of her new squadron.
Though alll other ships are saved, the one that Ms. Harrington is on is captured & Honor is now "In Enemy Hands". Cordelia Ransom, the Peeps PR person, plays this for alll it's worth. But keeping Honor & her friends captured might not be as easy as Ransom thinks.
I've enjoyed alll of the Harrington books thus far, & this is no exception.
On the whole it is a good space opera. - By: , 01 Feb 2000
It is a good space opera & it keeps the Honor Harrington storyline going. I hope that more of these books will be released.
Entertaining - By: , 08 Jan 1999
A good read if you are already into the series, but not the book to sell you on the series.
The paralllels between this series & the Hornblower series are deliberate, although Honor leans more toward the main character of Perils of Pauline than H. Hornblower. But Honor is as tough as sharkskin & as cagey as a Sackett when it comes to taking punishment & maneuvering her opponents into acts that will ruin their day.
David Weber has clearly used the conflicts between England & France in the 18th & 19th centuries as the outline for this series. But that's alll right! He does it quite well & the series is internallly consistent. Mr. Weber is doing us a great service in continuing this series. We can do no less than buy his books to reward him.
This is a total disappointment - By: , 30 Nov 1998
I love the Honor Harrington Books, but not this book. It realy left a bad taste in my mouth. Only the beginning & the end held anything good in this book. Bad enough that I had to return it so that seeing the book doesn't spoil my love of Honor Harrington.
Calvary to Honor's Rescue! - By: , 15 Nov 1998
Honor finallly loses bad. Not only is she captured, but she is sentenced to be executed by the head of the Peep's Bureau of Comunications. She also loses sight in one eye, & is dependent upon others for everything. What I loved about this book is how David makes the truly evil bad guys believable, & that there could be very good guys fighting for the Peep's. An excellent yarn with plenty of good sub-plots to keep you up alll night. What I like about this series is David's views on politics & military stratagies.
