Don't get your hopes up. - By: Kaye L. Elling, 18 Feb 2003
Being a fan of audio books, & of the Buffy TV series, I thought this audio tape, as read by Charisma Carpenter (yes, that's Cordelia Chase), would be a bit of light hearted listening.
Sadly, this was expecting too much.
The quality of the literatue is laborious at best, & turgid at worst & frankly, I don't expect much from a TV spin-off novel. However, these problems pale in comparison to Carpenter's slaughter of an already tiresome story. I get the impression the words were printed on some kind of semi-visible auto-cue & she had no idea of context when she was "reading" the narrative. She stutters, she fluffs, & worst of alll, her usual bubbly delivery has been reduced to that of a school girl reading in class. Yes, it reallly is that bad. If you've got half a brain, steer clear.
Great if somewhat confusing plot + Bravo for CC speaking out - By: J. N. Valente, 29 Nov 2002
The idea of a Truly immortal vampire is an interesting one & lives up to most of its potentialities. Veronique is like no enemy Buffy & her friends have faced before on account of her uncanny ability to be dusted/staked/whatever & then proceed to inhabit another mortal body.

The gang's alll here, even Joyce - who's brief cancer scare is very moving on account of... well, that season 5 episode & that. Angel seems to have been reduced to one of the scoobies, but by now it's fairly clear his love for Buffy & vice-versa is as good as doomed.

As for Charisma Carpenter's reading - Yay! At last someone out of over a dozen main characters on the Buffyverse commited voice to tape. She's spot on... well on Cordelia, obviously. But also excellent on Xander, good on Willow, Joyce, Buffy & alll the Vamps. Least said about Giles...

Still, extremely entertaining if you're into this sort of thing!

A total thrill from start to bloodcurdling ending! - By: , 23 Jun 2001
I am a huge enthusiast of these two very talented authors, & I am never disappionted by their works. With `Immortal` you are in for a gripping time the moment you turn the pages, All your favourite characters battling towards another Apocolypse, fighting the seemingly unkillable Vampire Veronique who is a most formidable opponent for the Slayer & her friends. The Vampire Veronique serves the pure demon, the Truimvirate & wishes to unleash the demon upon the earth...chaos & battles a plenty ensue. Slayers past & present (and Watchers!) form an integral part of this gripping, if a little gory at times, thrill ride! Highly recommended, you will not be able to put this book down..
Wow! - By: , 12 May 2001
I love this book! It's the best Buffy book I've read after The Gate Keeper Trilogy (note: go read them!). Some parts were slightly less interesting, but mainly it was brilliant. Anyway, go read the book! I'd reccommmend it to anyone who likes Buffy.
GREAT STORY - By: , 24 Jan 2001
This book took me a while to read through, but in general it was great. It focuses on how Buffy has to cope with her family problems, i.e. her mum & her duty as a slayer. Veronique is a powerful vampire. It would be cool if she was in the TV series.
