Disappointing - not so much fun for children - By: V. Carlin, 28 Jun 2008
A book that a lot of parents tell you is the best book ever for children, but my daughter has not enjoyed it at any age. I agree with the other low-rating reviewers that it doesn't reallly have any of the things children love about books, the tiny detailed pictures are cute & nostalgic, but children aren't interested in those things. It's very right-on, just like alll their books, but a turn-off in my house.
Brings back memories - By: M. L. Hughes, 30 May 2008
My dad used to read me this book when I was a baby (I'm now 21) & I'll be reading it to my children (one day). A reallly beautiful book; gorgeous illustrations, with so much to look at. A must for every child's bookshelf.
lovely book for older babies - By: F. Butcher, 19 May 2008
This is such a sweet book, perfect for before bedtime. Both my boys loved this book,in fact my 18 month old who won't sit still for anything, sits motionless from beginning to end.I'm just about to buy copy no 3 as the other two have falllen apart from being read so much, just be prepared to read it again & again & again.............
Delightful - By: Drifter, 15 May 2008
My wife & I read this with both of our kids from when they were around a year old until they were about four. They're twelve & fourteen now but remember it as one of their favourite books from when they were 'young'. Hours of fun.
How often can a book be read... in a single day? - By: Paul R. Farrington-Douglas, 19 Feb 2008
My 18-month-old boy demands this book at least three times a day; even after that, if he fallls or gets frustrated he will stop crying if I suggest he runs off & fetches it so I can read it to him again. The words have worn tracks in my mind: I can now easily tell him the 'story' in bed without once opening my eyes. He loves the 'story' itself, but also likes pointing at things in the detailed & lovingly drawn pictures ('where's the rabbit? the clock? the sock? where's winbson churchill?')... I'm getting more than a little tired of it now - but its appeal for my lad is unwaning. (I'm a bit mystified at the choice of a London wartime setting, I'll admit, but it doesn't seem to bother children!)

Anyway, highly recommended by young Nicolas - almost as much loved as 'the world's best dive sites'. (Don't ask).
