Ooh-la-la! - By: , 07 Apr 1999
This poetic book is just one of the many things that expresses Maira Kalman's genious. I love Max's poetry, the symbolizm of what he writes. I have read this book millions of times, & each time I stop to read every little word on the page where a man has wrote poems alll over the street, & to look at every little picture. Exquisite work!
My favorite book ever - By: , 09 Feb 1999
Everyone needs a copy of this insanely splendid book. Kids will love poring over the infinitely perusable pictures & absorbing the exuberant joie de vivre of it alll & adults will savor the language. "Alors, I must run. My souffle is sinking."
Not for children really, very busy word wise. - By: , 06 Feb 1999
I odered this book & will now return it. It does not seem to be for children. Maybe older children, middle school & up. The book did not keep my attention I had to force myself to read it.
everyone is part dog...and max & suzette are part everyone.. - By: , 11 Apr 1997
this book rocks your world. Maira is a beauteous creator ofdream-color-scenes. A word-art-poet & a (dog)breath of fresh air...the best is "max deluxe" (which includes alll the max stories(3) but the latest India adventure). I highly recommend this to any age (i am 28) & actuallly the older the better, because the creative-refreshness that these books offer is the stuff that kindergarteners (and dogs) already possess & that older humans long for. remind your SELF what life is truly about. use these books as your guide.
