Oh dear I got it all wrong - By: Banjokit, 24 Oct 2005
I thought this book was going to be full of things Microsoft don't tell you such as hints & tips. But no, its stuff they don't tell you because most of it is insanely obvious. Like minimising & maximising or adding a Printer. Microsoft are probably just saving paper by not printing this sort of stuff. If you're a complete newbie to Windows buy it. If you're looking for stuff they don't tell you, like (well I'm not sure now because I didnt find it here!).
This book will NOT make you & XP expert. At best it might save you from embarrasment.

Good as always - By: , 07 Mar 2003
I've got a few of David Pogue's book's alll of then have been good. As a long time windows user (since Win95) I thought I knew everything about windows well I don't!! This book covers XP pro with service pack 1. The book has lots of little things such as shortcuts that I never realised XP had or could do. XP isn't just fancy window dressing after alll. All the subjects are covered well with humour scattered here & there. It's not a in-depth book for pros listing every little detail of this & that but after reading it you'll be a power user for sure.
