An essential guide - By: J. Henderson, 28 Dec 2002
One of the best things about the iMac is the cool software that comes pre-installled. One of the worst things is that there is no user guide in the box, & hunting around through the on-line manual is a pain in the neck. That is where the "Missing Manuals" series comes in handy. I had previously bought the OS X book, so got the iPhoto one sight-unseen.
It is a bit disappointing compared with the OS X book - there is a big section on digital photography that duplicates what most readers probably already have - just padding. However, the rest is a very readable & useful description of the various methods & tricks that are available, along with pitfallls to avoid.
Overalll, this book - or a similar one - is an essential adjunct to your iPhoto software.
At last I get the picture! - By: , 03 Sep 2002
I was a new "MacUser' as well as a new digital photographer & was definitely struggling with iPhoto. I felt sure it was good & would do alll the things I wanted - & had begun to do in Photoshop (PhotoDeluxe - the simpler version for PC's). When I heard about the Missing Manual I couldn't wait to get it & try. What a revelation!! At last I could understand the filing, the date system, the pixels, why I needed to get it right for the size of print, how to send pictures by email without my friends having to sit up alll night to download etc etc. What I particularly like was the links to other useful bits of information or freeware. I had been trying for months to print four different pictures on one sheet & even with new drivers my printer just wouldn't. Downloaded the software & did it straight away. All was explained in simple language & fun to read.
It would have save alot of frustration if this book had been "in the box" but at least I've got it now.
Thank you for a reallly worthwhile investment - & to anyone hesitating - Don't!
