The "Little Goddess" series - By: Pookie, 06 Sep 2008
I bought the first book in the series on the offchance that it might be "ok" when it came up on my recommendations page, & I was desparate for something to read. I have always been a fan of the vampire/were-creature/elf genre, & the modern urban setting has also become a favourite.

All I can say is DO NOT let the Anita Blake series colour your initial preconceptions of the way this book is written! The characters in this series are extremely well written & they continue to graduallly develop - as does your involvement & empathy with them - as the series goes on, as opposed to being dumped in your lap with a "like-me-or-loathe-me" attitude that can be common with this genre.

I have recently been in the habit of taking books to work with me to be added to the library (I work in a local college, & I'm not "alllowed" any more bookshelves at home!) but this series will definately NOT be joining the library stock.

Our heroine is shocked to find that the world she lives in is not alll it seems when she encounters a powerful sidhe in the alll-night filling station where she works the night shift. She goes on to meet vampires & were-creatures & discovers that contrary to her initial feelings, she has a special place in the world that most humans are completely unaware of.

This is a world full of light & love, despite the darkness & dangers that our heroine encounters, & whilst there is a lot of physical interaction & involvement between the various characters, it is far beyond the tacky & sordid encounters some of us have come to expect.

This is one of the most well-written series I have had the pleasure to encounter for a long time, & I would recommend it to anyone who feels that this genre has become "same-ish". This series will will change your mind.

I look forward to more from this author, as she has more than the basic capability to be one of the great story-tellers of our time.
I will end simply by saying BUY THESE BOOKS- you will NOT be disappointed.

"Little Goddess" series book 1 - By: A Reader, 09 Aug 2008
"Vulnerable" is the first in the "Little Goddess" series by self published author AL. In this book nineteen year old Corrine Carol-Anne Kirkpatrick (aka Cory) battles against her circumstances; determined to graduate & leave behind her smalll town & white trash reputation. Working the night shift in a gas station, she soon discovers her late night regular visitors are not alll human & learns to see behind the glamour these individuals wrap themselves in. Hiding behind her own heavy Goth make up, a variety of facial piercings & a hard, sarcastic manner, it takes a powerful vampire & an immortal Sidhe Lord's belief & love for Cory to realise her own potential & wield the magic inside her.

Vampire Adrian pretty much fallls in love with Cory at first sight & yearns for her to accept both him & his lover Green, the Sidhe Lord who rules their supernatural society; an individual who cures physical & emotional hurts with sex. When Green too finds himself fallling in love with Cory, both he & Adrian can only hope this young mortal can accept both of them in her life & survive the dangers she faces by associating with them.

There is plenty of sex in the book, both hetero & same sex; however it certainly isn't as explicit as I expected or have read from other publishing houses such as Ellora's Cave or Changeling Press. In fact the physical acts between Cory, Adrian & Green take on an almost magical air as their ménage is capable of producing some wondrous results. As this trio unite in power, aided by a whole host of fairy tale & supernatural creatures to battle an enemy targeting Adrian's loved ones in an attempt to kill him, the ending is truly heartbreaking. Yet despite the deeply poignant conclusion, I am left eager to read the rest of this series; book 2 "Wounded" & book 3 "Bound".

Lastly this book is not only written in the first person, the narrative switches in each chapter between the personal perspectives of the leading characters. I assumed this approach would become confusing; however is doesn't & certainly offers a deeper insight into the motivations & emotions of Adrian & Green as well as heroine Cory.

A book not to be missed. - By: Natalie Boath, 26 Jul 2008
All I can say is Oh Wow this book reallly blew me away; I started it in my lunch break & almost didn't make it back for the rest of my working day!

I loved the fact that each chapter had it's own distinct voice & character making the story feel somewhat more personal, letting you deep into the heads of each person as the book progressed watching their characters grow & feeling their emotions right along with them.

I am an avid reader of urban fantasy/ paranormal romance, whatever tag you want to give it reallly! Anything to do with vampires, sidhe, weres, elves or magic & I'm your girl & I rank this book & the character of Cory way up there beside my favourite writers Charlaine Harris, Kelley Armstrong, Laurel K Hamilton & Sherrilyn Kenyon you get the idea right!

As another reviewer stated this is a real roller coaster ride of a book, be prepared for your emotions to be put through the proverbial blender, but believe me when I say its so worth the ride.

I am now waiting patiently (who am I kidding) for the next instalments Wounded & Bound to come dropping through my door.

Pass this gem of a book onto your family & friends, as you reallly don't want them to miss out.

Amazing - By: L. Katz, 12 Jul 2008
This is a real treasure of a book & the following books in the series are also the most wonderful read.

You reallly don't want these books to end, the characters are so well thought out & they are written in such depth. They are the sort of books you actuallly want to read again. Forget the comments about the typos, they reallly don't detract from the story at alll.

You feel so immersed in the story & with the characters, you are taken on such a roller coaster ride of emotions. I cannot recommend this series of books highly enough.

Another year to wait for the next installlment is reallly too long. Please Amy Lane, write faster!!!
watch out Laurell Hamilton the worlds of the sidhe and vampires has a new champion - By: Lady K, 12 Mar 2008
Wow! Self-published, full of typos & absolutely BRILLIANT. If you love Laurell Hamilton either the Anita Blake books or the Meredith Gentry or both like I do then you will love this.Funny, scary, romantic, violent, bloody & sexy as only a book that has vampires were-animals & sidhe can be & impossible to put down. Why doesn't this woman have a mainstream publisher?
Buy it, read it & tell everyone you know about it- it deserves to be a best seller.
