Maybe you can see them from space - By: Robin Benson, 10 Feb 2008
As more & more folk decorate their homes with Chrissy lights publishers are there to capture the event. This book has a go but I thought it was fatallly flawed in several editorial areas:
* The book is too smalll. At six inches square any decent photo has to be compromised.
* The smalllness means that the pages are reallly stuffed with headlines, text & other graphics. All the non-photo stuff just make the pages confusing & the overalll look is very messy.
* The photos are just average snaps, frequently cropped so that some decorations are cut. Many pages have two or three photos as well, some are reallly no bigger than thumbnails. By their nature houses covered with colored lights & photographed at night seem to want plenty of surrounding blackness to reallly show what is going on. There just isn't enough space on these pages to let the photos capture the moment for the reader.

Visuallly the book is hopeless but I did enjoy some of the copy. Written in light-hearted way which the subject deserves. It's a pity the photo contents & design didn't have a much larger page size to show the light magic that many home-owners have created.

Fans of house lights should have a look at `Holiday Lights' (ISBN 1580175082) a handsome 180 page paperback with lots of photos & nicely, plenty of practical decorating ideas.

Perfect Present!!! - Amusing, Entertaining and Great Value! - By: Joseph Campbell, 18 Dec 2007
I liked the look of this after seeing it reviewed on Sky TV. But it was even better than I expected.

Intelligently written, beautifully photographed & strewn with well-observed witticisms. This is far more than a quirky Christmas stocking-filler & I heartily recommend it.

I look forward to next year's edition!
