This is an excellent book for the earth science student with detailed examinations of the physical & chemical nature of the soil.
However, it does presuppose an knowledge of soil & its properties, as well as assuming the reader has a well founded knowledge of chemistry & soil science (and possibly mathematics).
This is not an introductory text to soil science though for those pursing the earth sciences at a post-graduate level it will be an invaluable reference.
