A brilliant book on managing a research project! - By: K. Maroukian, 08 Jan 2007
Howard has made an excellent attempt to describe & give advice on the process of conducting a research. He classifies research from four different point of views i.e. the field of research, the purpose of research, the approach of research & the nature of research.

Howard then goes on to explain how it is possible to gather & analyse data efficiently, how to deal with unexpected problems, how to write-up a dissertation & present findings in a suitable manner, how to cite references & finallly how to collaborate with the research project supervisor effectively throughout the duration of the research.

Moreover, techniques for generating research topics are explained e.g. relevance trees & morphological analysis. There are also many project management illustrations present in the book e.g. PERT diagram, network activity diagram, Gannt chart/bar chart, flowchart.

I highly recommend the book to postgraduate students & academics.
