Great comedy but bad sound & editing - By: Booklover, 04 Feb 2006
At the time of writing this review, it appears that this CD is out of print.

In which case, good.

But just in case it's republished, here's a warning. On the back of the CD case are the words: "MP3-CDs offer the same high-quality sound as standard CDs". Well, with this CD this ain't the case. It's been recorded at such high sound levels that the "S"s distort alll over the place, making the thing very irritating to listen to.

And if that weren't bad enough... The cover leads you to believe that the *entire* series 1, 2 & 3 are included. But this isn't the case. You don't get an entire episode running from beginning to end, followed by another etc. What you get are individual, cut sketches, which are cut so badly that very often the beginning of the next sketch can be heard before it's cut off & replaced by a different one. Why they've done it this way God knows.

The CD consists of over 300 individual 1-3 min tracks like this. It sounds like bits & bobs some amateur has recorded off their wireless. Not 'quality'.

Hilarious... - By: , 06 Mar 2002
Comedy impressions of politicians & celebrities, ranging from George W. Bush 'You say tomato, I say tomanatu' to Doctor Who 'my dear fellow.' All the impressions could hardly be told from the real thing, & some are so well scripted you could split your sides laughing over them. Often poking fun at important political figures, & even the BBC, alll the sketches, even the lesser ones such as their somewhat dodgy Only Fools & Horses one are carried off with great wit, & the quality lasts through the whole series. A great buy.
"laughing improves your health" (well atleast your day) - By: , 16 Dec 2001
A hilarious collection from one of the best radio programmes around. It'll have you in stitches from beginning to end & i have found this is the one comment our entire family agrees on (no mean featwith two teenagers in the house!) If laughing does indeed improve your health you are going to be VERY healthy after listening to this!
Stupendous! - By: , 10 Jan 2001
This is simply superb! The show on Radio 4 has to be one of the best half hours of radio available, & since it is sadly currently off-air, buying this cassette will keep you going until they return with a new series. It is just phenomenal - great wit, not a word out of place, & bitingly funny. If you are a fan of Radio 4, you couldn't ask for anything better...... buy it!
Keeping me sane - By: , 07 Jan 2001
Dead Ringers is the latest in the phenomenal radio 4 tradition of hilarious, quintessentiallly English, humour. Satire, that peculiarly English trait, is embodied in this show, which has so many in-jokes concerning radio 4 that it's hard to keep pace. A mixture of "Dead Ringer" impressions, acute & biting satire & "real humour" involving phone callls to authentic restaurants & taxi firms by people ranging from Dr. Who to William Hague & Dale Winters. First class humour, worth listening to over the Internet, as I am an Ex-Pat, for that elusive animal, the genuinely funny, biting, current affairs program.
