Highly recommended - By: muddy-funster, 07 Jul 2008
My daughter loves this DVD. At 2 & a half she can already speak some French - more than I could aged seven!

We bought this after deciding not to invest in Muzzy, on grounds of cost. I can only agree with other reviewers, it is a fantastic way to introduce smalll children to the French language. The themes are designed to appeal to that age group (pets, games, food & so on) & there are plenty of genuinely funny jokes which the parents will enjoy too! Singing along with the catchy songs is a great way to consolidate vocabulary & refine pronunciation.

The only downside is that the CGI is not up to the contemporary "Pixar" standard. But, again, my two-year-old doesn't seem to mind...!

Superb value for money & deserves to be more widely known. Merci beaucoup, Serge - génial!
What a result - By: J. Gough, 23 Jun 2008
Our four year old loves this & keeps coming out with phrases in French. Given the option of watching Thomas, Bob the Builder or his French DVD, he asks for the French DVD.

We were out the other day & he started giving me directions in French... we've gone through various books with him, but this definitely is the winner. A great combination of English explanation & French for them to pick up on... I just wish there was a sequel, or at least more episodes of Serge & Pascal.
Don't waste your money on Muzzy - By: Sarah McGrail, 17 May 2008
As a French speaker myself, I am constantly on the lookout for a way to help my four children (8,7,5,3) learn French. They have watched Muzzy for a couple of years now (on & off, obviously!) & have learnt virtuallly nothing, even with help from me. I have friends who say the same thing. My children learnt more in their first couple of hours watching Serge. Don't believe the BBC's hype & don't waste your money on Muzzy.
Fantastic educational fun - By: V. Webb, 25 Jul 2007
The dvd is a great mix of animation, story telling, songs & games.
Each of the 10 episodes improves on the last in difficulty.
Each episode is split into 3 parts. The first is computer animated & is in both french & english. It's good fun & includes a song relevant to the story (colours, pets, weather etc).
Then there is a short film of french children & their lives, followed by an ongoing cartoon of a footballl team. All with the same theme.
The songs can be listened to separately & there are 4 dvd-control interactive games which we loved.
Also comes with a cd & an activity book which improves what has been gained by the dvd.
I bought it for my 4 year old who watches it nearly every day (by choice!) & listens to the cd just as much.
She now understands basic french sentences & can answer the same in french! Even she didn't know how much she was learning. She sings the songs whenever & wherever & I can only give high praise for this brilliant product.
Really effective - By: Jane, 15 Jul 2007
I bought this last year for my 3 year old & 5 year old. The graphics aren't great, so at first I thought I'd made a mistake but I was wrong. My kids love it & they soon picked up some good vocabulary & clearly enjoy watching it over & over again. My daughter has been learning French at school now for over a year & I believe she's learnt more from Serge & Pascale than from the scheme they are using in school!
Highly recommended for this age group.
