Great story, another Reacher classic - By: Tony D, 05 Jul 2008
The usual suspense & build up, a good story line, some new characters, which was fun, soldiers from his past turn up which makes the plot personel.....excellent reading !
One of us is tiring.... - By: johnverp, 30 Jun 2008
...and I am not sure whether it's me or Lee Child.

Jack is back, but this time with a collection of colleagues who are out to help some others within his old Army unit. He still only carries a tooth-brush. He is still superhuman & has a particular fascination with mental arithmetic which comes in handy in decoding things, including messages from members of the unit.

You would have to say that the quality of writing is on par with previous efforts. The plot is OK, & carries interest, although once the problem is identified the denouement is pretty much as expected (i.e. the story travels pretty much as others before it have). We know Jack, but the book otherwise remains shy on characterizations.

I think I have been proven wrong already, but I would have said Child is changing his formula so that his former colleagues play a role in future stories, perhaps because Child has run out of ideas for Jack. But I don't think I'm wrong in saying that it's time Child, such a good author, did move on. 7/10

Starts slow but then is OK - By: Rafal Gruszczynski, 23 Jun 2008
Starts very slow - the first 200 pages is mainly a struggle. Then with some events it picks up pace & is good until the end.

They calll themselves the elite. And they are - but in the intellectual sense rather than operational, where they commit a lot of very serious erros that no well trained agend would commit.

The obsession with numbers etc. is a bit heavy on the character. But the thing about thinking like the others (the victim or the criminal) is a very interesting point in this book, if not the most interesting.

Plus there are also some false leads, but cannot sya more here in order not to spoil the plot.

A good book. Worth your time.
A good one - By: edzshed, 08 Jun 2008
I'd heard mixed reviews before reading this, & have always found Lee Child's novels to be a bit hit & miss, but I sooooo enjoyed this one, fast paced & credible. Get it read.
Another Reacher classic - By: Ms. Ruth Walsh, 26 Mar 2008
Great plot with new characters & plenty of action. Read Soft Target by Conrad Jones if you like Lee Child its Fantastic. I can recomend both books as absolute fire crackers !!!
