A must read! - By: L. Hutchinson, 20 Feb 2008
This is the first book i have read from Tess Gerritsen..and it certainly WILL NOT be the last! I read this book in less then a day because i just simply couldn't put it down. I'm a BIG fan of Lisa Gardner (recommend her books completely!) & must say i was a bit wiery about buying a Gerritsen book, but i am SO glad i did. Since then i have purchased another 3 books written by Gerritsen & i am looking forward to reading them. I advise anybody who enjoys tense/thrilling books to purchase this. You will not be dissapointed. What i like most about this book is that it actuallly made my heart beat double time; it's that effective. I must add though that i wasn't entirley impressed by the ending, i felt as if the whole book was a huge climax - but then it got to the ending, possibly a bit rushed? But still a must read!! 4/5 Deservadly. Brilliant book.
Enjoyable - By: S. Mazumder, 14 Feb 2008
I'm a big fan of Tess Gerritsen & her stories with medical examiner Maura Isles, & Detective Jane Rizzoli. In this story, Dr. Isles discovers a 'corpse' which is still breathing, & then later escapes. It turns out that this lady has a mysterious history, & the quest to discover her true identity & her story begins.

This alll occurs at the same time as Rizzoli is pregnant & going into labor. For me, using a mother who had literallly just given birth as the lead detective chasing the bad guys was a little unbelievable, & was a major weakness of the plot. At one point, she is in pursuit of the killer whilst holding her 2 week old baby in her arms, which is pretty silly I think. Also, the story is kinda rushed at the end, which is disappointing after a good build-up.

Overalll, it is still an enjoyable book to read, & one Tess Gerritsen fans should read.
A+ - just what you'd expect from Tess Gerritsen - By: O. Doyle, 21 Dec 2007
A book that describes the coming back to life of a corpse....its not the usual plot to the start of a crime thriller that's for sure. But then again Tess Gerritsen isn't like any other crime thriller writer. She's a rare breed who manages to ruffle the ahris on the back of my neck just by the simple ace of putting pen to paper. Vanish is no difference.

Detective Jane Rizzoli is 9mths pregnant & at the hospital for a routine check-up when things go awry. Along with others Jane finds herself being held hostage by a woman who came back from the dead. While Jane tries to keep things calm on her side her husband Gabe is doing alll he can to resolve the situation on the outside of the hospital. It leads to the usual Gerritsen intrigue & suspense & fans of the series won't be disappointed. If you've not read any of the series & you're a crime thriller fan then Tess Gerritsen is an author you MUST read.

This is just the begining of Tess Gerritsen's latest thriller, and the story gets better with every page. - By: Smitee, 16 Dec 2007
A corpse suddenly comes to life in the cold storage of the Medical Examiner's office. A Boston policewoman, nine months pregnant, goes into labor when the Diagnostic Imaging department becomes the set of a hostage situation. A hospital security guard, killed by the reanimated corpse who turns out not to be dead after alll, isn't registered as a hospital employee. Neither, it seems is the doctor who was tending to her. The hostage taker callls the local radio station as the cop's FBI husband watches the scene unfold from outside, & issues the statement that "the die is cast." An unidentified man, dressed similarly to the Tactical Operatives surrounding the hospital, walks into the building without being stopped.

This is just the begining of Tess Gerritsen's latest thriller, & the story gets better with every page. As a conspiracy gets uncovered the lead characters get thrust into more & more danger!! I would also strongly recommend reading Tino Georgiou's bestselling novel--The Fates--if you haven't yet.
Stodgy . - By: M. M. Burns, 27 Nov 2007
Not very well plotted with dire characterisation & you find that you have apparently raced through it because there are approximately 5 sentences per page in huge type. Having read a lot from the Scandanavian school of crime writing recently & greatly admired it I find it increasingly difficult to stomach this fast food approach to mystery writing. It's stuff like this alongside the once great Michael Connolly's last clod-footed efforts which have seriously put me off reading anymore blockbuster US crime fiction for a while.
