All fluff no substance - By: S. Hom, 20 Jul 2006
I read Geri Hallliwell's book If Only with eager anticipation. It left me with more questions. What was the REAL reason why she left the Spice Girls? I think it was a power play between the girls and/or Simon Fuller. Perhaps it was her drug problem & her mental state. I fully believe that her dealings with aneroxia was more to do with drugs & her lack of medication. Would did Simon Fuller let Geri continue with the Spice Girls if he knew about her nervous breakdown before embarking further with Virgin? Geri is the classic case of a manic depressive. I hope she got medical attention & it seems like she has kicked her drug problems er... her eating disorder.
An interesting autobiography - By: , 23 Dec 2004
I once transported Geri Hallliwell in my taxi & I was intrigued to find out how she came to fame.
Geri Hallliwell's 'If Only' autobiography gives a detailed account of her childhood & how she became to be a member of the Spice Girls. Geri had to go to many auditions & faced a large number of rejections before she had her 'lucky break' with the Spice Girls.
Being famous sometimes wasn't easy for Geri & she had times when she couldn't leave her hotel room or fly home. The papers wrote many things about her that were untrue & even some of her old acquaintances betrayed her by selling stories to the press for large sums of money.
This autobiography made me realise that if you want something that much, then never give up & keep trying !

The Best Book Ever - By: , 08 Sep 2003
I starting reading this book as soon as it came out. I was on holiday in Crete at the time & just could not put it down. It was the best book I've ever read! Geri tells it how it is, from her early relationships to deaths in her family. It is a very emotional book, but it was brilliant. As a teenage girl myself, I found that I could relate to Geri's own teenage life & her own experiences have helped me through mine.
A top book.
Changed my opinion about Geri. - By: A. Pitts, 24 Feb 2003
I was never a fan of Geri, but reading this book reallly changed my mind. While i'm not exactly her number one fan, this book help you understand what she has been through to get where she is. It shows alll the work that goes on before she reached the Spice Girls, & how, even afterwards, she was still struggling with her self-image.
The parts on her eating disorder is a great insight, & as someone who has suffered similar problems, it reallly helped to understand her.
Definitly worth reading.
An interesting narrative that chronicles Geri's Life. - By: , 12 Jan 2003
This book documents Geri's life from a young child up to the release of her first solo single. Along the way we are lead through the ups & downs of her true attempts at pop stardom, including the many auditions & consequent rejections too. Geri too affirms that it was the many rejections in her life that spurred her on to become famous, so that she could prove to everyone who doubted her in the past, that she would indeed make it big. The account of her dads death was brief & succinct, but she does refer back to it now & again for various reasons. On the whole an enjoyable & exciting account of her somewhat turbulent life.
