Not her best - By: Coma white, 26 Jun 2008
After following Gerritsens Isles & Rizzoli series & being consistently impressed I have to admit that this 4th entry is a bit of a let down.
Don't get me wrong, it is a good book. I enjoy reading about the two leading ladies in every one of Gerritsens books & feel they both progress in each. And theres also a good mix of new characters in Body Double. However I found some parts slightly unbelievable & farfetched which often seems the case with Tess' books. And when i'm reading a crime book I want it to seem believable that this could reallly be happening & in this I felt parts of it were not.
However it is still an enjoyable read, Tess reallly is right at the top of her game & there's not many better writers in the genre out there.
Good thriller - By: love reading, 26 Feb 2008
I'm not usuallly into thrillers but this is one of the better ones. Very exciting & well written for its genre. I still much prefer historical fiction though!
Very Good! - By: J.Flood, 11 Feb 2008
This is the fourth book in the Patholigist Dr. Maura Isles/Detective Jane Rizzoli series, & stands up pretty well in comparision with the other three novels.
In this one, Dr. Maura Isles has to go deep into her past, & find hidden, shocking truths, about her family in order to solve a modern day crime.
As always, the characters of Maura Isles & Jane Rizzoli are engaging, & the plot in this book had quite a few twists in it, too. There was frequently something new being discovered, or an event happening, in the storyline, that would make you want to read on further.
Excellent as always - By: O. Doyle, 21 Dec 2007
I discovered Tess Gerritsen just as my enthusiasm for Patricia Cornwell was waning. Not only did I find an author who hooked me just as Cornwells early Scarpetta books did but I think I might actuallly have found an author who can tell a tale better than Cornwell. I took a reviewer on Amazon's advice & read the Jane Rizzoli series from the beginning & have loved every installlment so far from `The Surgeon' to 'The Apprentice', 'The Sinner' & now 'Body Double'.....although I should stress that it's not necessary to read the books in sequence.
In Body Double the plot centers on a mystery surrounding Medical Examiner Dr Maura Isles who finds herself face to face with a twin she never knew she had. `Dark, sinister & well-crafted' are some of the comments that have been used to describe Body Double & I can't think of any better way of explaining the plot & story. But then that's no more than we've come to expect from Tess Gerritsen.
I've also read `Vanish' - the next in the series after Body Double & it too is fantastic. So if you're in the market for a fantastic thriller writer who'll keep you up till the early hours flipping pages then get you're plastic out & order the whole series!
