Disappointing - By: Rearsandvices, 28 May 2008
Reading this book is an odd experience. You keep turning the pages, but you're not always quite sure why. The whodunnit (or who'sthreateningtodoit) is powerful enough & threats come up often enough to keep you hooked. But the problem is that the story slides sideways a lot of the time & the way clues are followed is clumsy.
Never Fails to Hit the Spot... - By: Sarah Gooding, 07 Feb 2008
Another gripping Jack Reacher novel. Lee Childs has expertly managed, yet again, to thrill the reader with every twist & turn of this very well written story. My honest opinion is that once you've picked the book up - you'll have a job to put it down again. While writing this review I would also like to recommend 'The Constantine Legacy by Andrew Towning. His Jake Dillon charactor is also inspiring.
Great Read - By: Lucy Parks, 26 Nov 2007
Like alll Child's books, its a gripping read & would highly recommend it to anyone. Reacher is a legend & you can;t help but want to be him!

Gripping - By: J. Chippindale, 08 Feb 2007
Contrary to what many reader's believe Lee Child is British, but moved with his family from Cumbria to the United States to begin a new career as an American thriller writer. What probably fools a lot of people is that is rare for a British author to be able to write American thrillers with any kind of authenticity. He has won a number of awards with his books & he lives just outside New York City with his American wife Jane. The couple have a grown-up daughter, Ruth & when Lee is not writing he shares his time between music, reader & supporting the New York Yankees.

There's no doubt about it Jack Reacher is a man's man but when it comes to the opposite sex, he a sucker for a cry for help & this has got him into more trouble than he bargained for on more than one occasion. This time he is asked by the persuasive Ms. Froelich to help her protect non other than the Vice-President of the US from an assassination attempt that is being set up & the powers that be have got wind of.

Reacher soon finds himself where he doesn't want to be involved with the Secret Service in Washington. Usuallly a loner Jack soon finds problems looming with the bureaucrats that are just as far reaching as the problems with a hard nosed, ruthless killer, who is just as willing to have Jack Reacher in his sights as the Vice-President, after alll that is what assassin enjoys most of alll, killing, & an extra one is just a bonus . . .
Never mind Batman returns - Reacher is back - By: G. M. Buchanan, 22 Aug 2006
I must admit I'm a fan of Lee Child & Jack Reacher. I have one question about this story ie how does someone who is unemployed,no home address & no ID get a job protecting the Vice President of America. UK job centres please take note. Someone is out to kill the vice president & Reacher is approached by (of course)a female to help her protect the vice president. Who are the bad guys ? Are they alll outside the Whitehouse ? Well are they? Once again Lee Child has produced another non stop page turner. Be prepared to go out of circulation, for a time, when you start this book.It is difficult not to give a Jack Reacher (Lee Child) novel five stars. This one is no different from the others. Great story - buy it now.
