Great for beginners! - By: Leigh Sanders, 03 Feb 2008
I'm new to the world of Aromatherapy & this is the first book I've ever bought. It's easy to follow & well-written. I can honestly say it was a brilliant buy & I've already mixed some face oil for myself, which works like a dream! It's packed with 'recipes' for everything from face oils to flea collars!
The One, The Only... - By: R. Wooldridge, 28 May 2007
Aromatherapists I know (including myself) recommend this book highly above alll others, not just for the beginner seeking some basic knowledge & starter blends, but for the seasoned pro who requires an almanac of tried & tested information.
Since getting into Aromatherapy, I've read many books on the subject, but this is the one volume I consistantly refer back to. Whenever I am going away for a while & find it necessary to pack a portable essential oil kit, this book is always packed along with it - there's everything in here anyone might need, for any occasion.
I even took this book away with me on my honeymoon!
Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about this book. If you are interested in Aromatherapy & do not own this, then shame on you! Buy yourself a copy immediately!
I recommend this book - By: Mrs. A. C. Christodoulou, 01 Dec 2006
The Fragrant Pharmacy is a book no home should be without. When I bought it years ago I had no idea that essential oils were so potent & could be used completely effectively for alll kinds of ailments, & from starting out with a lot of scepticism, this book has converted me. I think if I had to keep only one book it would be this one. Who wants to be hanging about in doctors' waiting rooms picking up germs from the next ill person, when you can keep a stock of alll the commonly used essential oils in your own home - with the added benefit of being so fragrant & pleasant to use as well. What I like even more is that my children have grown up with first hand knowledge that these natural remedies work & I'm sure they will pass them on to their children too when the time comes. When they've got a headache, cold or a sore throat, they say Mum can I have some steam please! Obviously its the oils added to the water & the vapours that do the healing. I've learned how to treat, & treated in myself minor burns, sinusitis, impetigo, herpes cold sores (these used to be the bane of my life, now I don't fear them at alll) & Candida, to name but a few. In my children I've also treated chicken pox, urticaria & ringworm. My daughter stepped on her heated hair tongs with a bare foot one morning before school, burning the arch of her foot. With a foot soak in ice cold water followed by an application of lavender oil she was walking to school half an hour later. I will be buying this book as a Christmas present for my sister this year.
A must-have reference book, taken with a pinch of lavender salt - By: A. Tatton, 25 Oct 2006
A very practical & informative book on aromatherapy it gives you alll the information you'll ever need. I've used it to help me deal with breast cancer & it has helped, though of course I wouldn't recommend aromatherapy as a therapy on its own - for anything reallly. But even if it's the placebo effect, it's so pleasant to adminster that I can heartily recommend some of the essential oil combinations & their applications that Worwood suggests. For example, for dealing with nausea, to help one relax & to help one meditate. She has excellent practical guides to help you make your own candles & soap, for the garden & pets even. Her 'Basic Care Kit' which she describes in Chapter 2 is worth getting.
Enlightened, and with synergistic blends that actually work - By: Marie-Antoinette, 18 Aug 2005
I am a professional therapists (aromatherapy, bodyworks & sports injury). I have used this book as my bible now since 1994, the year before I started my business. I came across/bought it by mistake & have to say it has always proved invaluable, insightful, & is a good part of the reason why my reputation was made. Whether you understand your oils & even if you don't you can't go wrong with this book. The recipes work & I haven't had to go to the doctors more than a handful of times since 1995. A "MUST" book to have people!
